 Win at Thunderhill

June 24th, 2006; Sturgeon Bay, WI. - Green Bay’s Jared Siefert took the lead halfway through the IMCA Modified Feature and fought off Benji Lacrosse to pick up the win. Siefert made the weekend perfect so far by also winning Friday night in Luxemburg.

Aaron Thornton crossed the white flag and then the caution flew for another car’s spin, giving the win to Thornton.

Green Bay’s #75 Thom Therrien looked like he was the man to beat in the D.C. Custom Drilling and Blasting Street Stock feature. Therrien jumped out to the big lead until #95 Aaron Thornton and #11 Von Eytcheson made their was through traffic to challenge to race leader.51201b.jpg (17266 bytes)

Bomber #12 Rob Waechter Jr., Ellisville, passed #8 Mike Jost, Sturgeon Bay with two laps to go in the Bombe feature to pick up the first career feature win for this 16-year old driver.

#17 Jeremy Dubois passed race-long leader #8 Tony Everard on the final corner to pick up the 4-Cylinder feature win as heat winner #9 Kasey Gross could only watch.

14-year old #9 Kasey Gross won the night’s heat race in the 4-Cylinder division.

Eugene Gregorich won his second IMCA Stockcar feature of the season. He also won opening night. Keith Kickbusch had a clean sweep weekend in the IMCA Hobby Stocks. Kickbusch captured the point lead with his victory.

Aaron Thornton survived a wild last lap in winning the Street Stock feature. The win was Thornton’s third on the season.

Rick Mahlberg set the pace early on in the IMCA Stockcar feature. Point leader Jeff Vlies caught Mahlberg on lap three but contact between the two sent both cars spinning into the infield. Eugene Gregorich inherited the lead on the restart but with Rod Snellenberger and Greg Gretz right behind. Gregorich was able to hold off both drivers in picking up his second win of the season. With the win Gregorich inherited the point lead. Snellenberger was second followed by Gretz, Mike Wietor, and Dave Davister.

Brent Hanson led the opening two laps of the IMCA Modified feature before Rick Lemieux grabbed the top spot with a move to the inside on lap 3. Lemieux led the next three laps before Jared Siefert made a bid for the lead. Siefert snatched the lead on the high side with Benji Lacrosse following right behind. Lacrosse made many attempts at the pass but could never pull it off. Siefert pulled away on the last few laps and picked up the win. Lacrosse was second followed by Dave Zeitler. Randy Lemieux jr, and Sean Jerovetz.

Thom Therrien looked like he was the man to beat in the Street Stock feature. Therrien jumped out to the big lead and was going relatively unchallenged. Aaron Thornton and Von Eytcheson made their was through traffic. The duo caught Therrien and made the pass on him on lap 10. Thornton continued to lead with Eytcheson right behind him. With two laps to go, Thornton shot to the inside of the lapped car James Iverson. Iverson came down and made contact with Thornton. Eytcheson and Thornton crossed the white flag and then the caution flew for the Iverson spin. Going back to the last completed lap Thornton was the winner followed by Eytcheson, Therrien, Tim Czarneski, and Dave Baenen.

Chad Kominski led the opening six laps of the IMCA Hobby Stock feature before Roger Laviolette made the pass on the inside for the lead. A caution bottled up the field on lap 8. Keith Kickbusch moved into the runner-up spot and started challenging Laviolette for the lead. With two laps to go, Kickbusch got the opening he needed going into turn one. He made the pass and went on to win his second straight feature at Thunderhill. He was followed by Laviolette, Jarred Van Lannen, Jeff Lautenbach, and Kominski.

Rob Waechter Jr, passed Mike Jost with two laps to go in the Bomber feature to pick up his first career feature win.

Jeremy Dubois passed race-long leader Tony Everard on the final corner to pick up the 4 cylinder feature win.

Next week is Olson Fabrication night at Thunderhill. There will be fireworks after the races. The track’s website is www.racethunderhill.com.
