Benji
Lacrosse made his weekend perfect so far by winning the
Tri-County Heating IMCA Modified feature at the Forest
County Potawatomi Thunderhill Raceway. He was
joined in the winner’s circle by Co-Race Director Brady
Wodack. With the win,
LaCrosse became the first repeat feature winner of 2006.
#38 Randie
Back looked like the man to beat early on as he set the pace
in the
IMCA Modified Feature event. After a caution and restart on
lap 9, #54 Benji
Lacrosse was able to catch Back and Jared Siefert. Lacrosse
used the outside line
to grab the lead and never looked back
Budweiser
IMCA Stockcar #21 Dave Bouche won his feature event after a
race-long duel with newcomers to the class Mike Pierrard and
Tony Schlei.
It was a
great seesaw battle up front Saturday night with #21 Tony
Bouche picking up his first win of the season followed by
“Pepe” Vlies, Tony Schlei, Mike Pierrard, and Eugene
Gregorich.
Aaron
Thornton won his third feature of the season.
With some
help from his race setup, #47 Keith Kickbusch drove to
victory using the
highline in the Olson Fabrication IMCA Hobby Stock Feature.
It was his second
feature win of the season.
#53 “Mad Mert”
Dwayne Mertens set the pace for the first four laps of the
IMCA
Hobby Stock Feature. Keith Kickbusch grabbed the lead using
the outside line
and took off from the rest of the field. Points leader Eddie
Anschutz was able
to make the pass for second but was never able to catch
Kickbusch..

#15 Joe Kraul
won his fourth feature in a row in the Bomber division....
...But it was
early race leader and earlier heat winner #37 Brian Belleau,
Algoma,
that was the quick competitor “out of the blocks.” Kraul ran
down Belleau and
took control and the win.

#83 Tom Zastrow won his second feature in a row in the 4
cylinder class.

Four-Cylinders #83 Tom Zastrow, Sturgeon Bay and #2 Kenny
Malcore, Milwaukee, set
up for another great race this week with Zastrow coming out
on top. |
Randie Back looked like the man to beat early on as he set
the pace in the IMCA Modified Feature event. Back was
pressured heavily by Jared Siefert. Siefert would try to
make the pass on the outside but couldn’t get enough
momentum. A caution on lap 9 helped Benji Lacrosse catch
Back and Siefert. Lacrosse used the outside line to grab the
lead and never looked back. Siefert emerged in the battle
for second followed by Back, Jay Matthias, and Scott Boyea.
Scott Reinhardt used the outside of row one to lead lap one
but Aaron Thornton grabbed the lead on lap two. Von
Eytcheson used a three wide pass on Reinhardt and Thornton
to grab the lead. Eytcheson started to pull away from the
field. With three laps to go Eytcheson broke his suspension
on the left front tire. Thornton was able to reel in
Eytcheson and make the pass for the lead. Thornton went on
to win his third feature of the season followed by Eytcheson,
Reinhardt, John Sternard, and Jeremy Wiitala.
Rick Mahlberg led the opening lap of the IMCA Stockcar
feature. He spun on the front stretch giving the lead to
Mike Pierrard. Pierrard continued to lead until Dave Bouche
took the lead on a three wide pass on Pierrard and Tony
Schlei. Jeff Vlies then made the pass into second. Vlies was
all over the back of Bouche but was never able to make the
pass. Bouche picked up his first win of the season followed
by Vlies, Schlei, Pierrard, and Eugene Gregorich.
Dwayne Mertens set the pace for the first four laps of the
IMCA Hobby Stock Feature. Keith Kickbusch grabbed the lead
using the outside line. Kickbusch took off from the rest of
the field. Eddie Anschutz was able to make the pass for
second but was never able to catch Kickbusch. Kickbusch won
his second feature of the season followed by Anschutz, Frank
Paul, Mertens, and Dave DeGrave.
Tom Zastrow won his second feature in a row in the 4
Cylinder Feature after a race long battle with Kenny Malcore.
Joe Kraul won his fourth Bomber Feature in a row after
battling with Brian Belleau for the entire feature.
Next week is Dairy Queen Night. The Street Stock class will
be getting introduced to the crowd. The Forest County
Potawatomi Thunderhill Raceway is located at the John Miles
Fair Park. The track’s website is www.racethunderhill.com.
