Sturgeon Bay, WI. - An autograph session featuring the
"Wisconsin Stars of Boone" will be part of the pre-race activities prior to the
Bayou Clash Saturday night September 17 at the Potawatomi Thunderhill Raceway in Sturgeon
Bay.
The Clash, with major sponsorship from Budweiser, S&B Trailers and Kelsey Racing, is
the Raceway's final racing program of the year. Proceeds will be donated to the Brett
Favre Fourward Foundation to aid in disaster relief efforts in the Gulf Coast.
All six regular divisions will be in action: IMCA-style
Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, as well as the Street Stocks, Thunder Bombs, and
Sport 4s. The Modifieds will race for a top prize of $1,000, with the Stock Car
winner taking home $500. Racing begins at 6:00PM. Sturgeon Bay track rules
will apply for all divisions.
The night's festivities will begin with an autograph session featuring recently crowned
IMCA Super National Champion Benji Lacrosse of Luxemburg. Joining Lacrosse for the
session will be Sean Jerovetz of Little Suamico, Jay Matthias of DePere and 2005 Modified
track champ Todd Dart of Algoma. Jerovetz and Matthias were also part of the 33 car
starting field for the Super National Modified finale last weekend in Boone, IA.
Dart placed third in the prestigious Efkamp Memorial Race of Champions, a special
event limited to track champion drivers from around the country.
The four drivers will be signing special Super National collector cards of the four
drivers designed and donated by Dan and Mary Lewis of DLP Promotions. The cards will
be distributed to fans at no charge; however, free will cash donations to the Foundation
are encouraged.
The session is slated to run from 4:30PM - 5:30PM, giving fans a chance to congratulate
the drivers and see Lacrosse's huge Super National trophy.
Along with the money generated through the autograph session, all grandstand revenue,
concessions and apparel sales will be donated. According to track promoter Bryan
"Woody" Wodack, many race teams are eager to join the effort.
"Several teams have already told me that they intend to donate at least a portion of
their winnings to the Foundation," he said. "I know of one team
challenging their sponsors to donate as well. This certainly isn't mandatory, but we
really appreciate the generosity of the teams that are doing this."
Admission for the Clash is $10.00, with fans 12 and under admitted free when accompanied
by an adult.
