Sean Jerovetz won the IMCA Modified feature. Shawn Kilgore picked up
his first feature win of the season in the IMCA Stockcar class. Tony Schlei won a thriller
in the IMCA Hobbystock class. Von Eytcheson used a front row starting spot to capture the
Street Stock class. Chad Williams won the first 4 cylinder main event of the year.
In the 20 lap IMCA Modified main, Art Siefert lead the opening five laps of the feature
until Sean Jerovetz took over the lead. The battle was then on for second with Art
Siefert, Randie Back, Jeremy Jacobs, and Jay Matthias all swapping positions. Jared
Siefert, and Felix Dart then started making their way towards the front. With Jerovetz
solidly up front by five car lengths, Jared Siefert started his move for the second spot.
With Jacobs down low Siefert passed up high. On the final lap, Dart got around Matthias
for fourth. At the checkered flag; Jerovetz crossed the line first. He was followed by
Siefert, Jacobs, and Dart. Sean Jerovetz won his first feature win of the season.
In the 18 lap IMCA Stockcar event, Pepe Vlies jumped out to the early advantage on the
rest of the field. Shawn Havel and Shawn Kilgore then duked it out for the second spot.
Kilgore finally got the best of Havel on the low side. Kilgore then had his eyes on the
prize and caught down Pepe. Kilgore made the pass up high on Vlies. The first caution came
out on lap 7, when Eugene Gregorich spun and collected Dave Davister, Josh Massart, Don
Aregoni, Darren Otto, Jeremy Schultz, and Troy Muench. This bunched up the field with
Kilgore leading. He was followed by Vlies, Shawn Havel, Matt Junio, and Craig Paque. On
the restart, he flew away from the rest of the field and went on to win the main event.
Finishing second was Jeff Vlies, followed by Shawn Havel, Matt Junio, and Craig Paque.
Shawn Kilgore had this to say about the race track, " The track was fast where ever I
went. Up top my car was real fast. It was nice to get the my first win this season."
Eddie "the flying eagle" Anschutz lead from the drop of the green flag, and set
sail in the IMCA Hobbystock feature event. Tom Brumlic, Keith Kickbusch, Brandon Peterson,
and Matt Lewis were all in hot pursuit. After a Brandon Peterson spin, the field was put
in a tight bunch once again. On the restart, Schlei found his way into the top 4. He
passed Tom Brumlic for third, and moved to the top side of the track. Meanwhile, up front,
Kickbusch made the pass for the lead. It was short lived however as "The eagle"
reclaimed the top spot. With two laps to go Schlei made his way to the outside of
Kickbusch. As the white flag flew, Schlei closed to within a car length of Anschutz. Down
the back stretch, Schlei shot to the top side. With Eagle down low and Schlei up high,
they came around the turn, and Schlei found a little bit more and edged Anschutz by a 1/2
car length. With Schlei getting the win, Eagle finished second followed by Kickbusch, Tom
Brumlic and Dwayne Mertens. When asked what he thought about the race, Tony Schlei
responded, "This was my favorite feature of the 35 career features to have won. I
didnt think I had the car to win with Brumlic and Anschutz starting up front.
Winning on the last corner was real exciting."
Von Eytcheson rocketed from his front row starting spot, and took control of the 15 lap
feature event. Todd Polster quickly made his way to second. Mike Pierrard, Scott Iverson,
and Scott Reinhardt all made their way into the top 5. After a caution for parts on the
track, Eytcheson again shot out to the lead. All the way through the top 10 cars stayed
single file. At the finish, Von Eytcheson took the win, followed by Todd Polster, Mike
Pierrard, Scott Iverson, and Scott Reinhardt. Von had this to say after his feature win,
" This felt really good tonight winning the feature. I had the problems last week, so
this felt great to get into victory lane. I just want to thank my crew for all the help
they have given me throughout my career. You guys are the best."
Chad Williams from Sturgeon Bay, took the lead in the 12 lap sport 4 main event until
Tyler Smith challenged for the lead. As they made contact on lap 8, Kenny Malcore tried to
split the seam. Chad Williams stood tough outside while Kenny Malcore tried the middle
groove. With Williams not allowing Malcore to make up any ground, he crossed the finish
line for his first feature win of the season. Williams was followed by Malcore and Tyler
Smith.
