Door County Motorsports 4 Cylinder #17 Jeremy Dubois, Algoma, and #24  Kipp Burlo, Sturgeon Bay, went wheel-to-wheel in the closing laps.

Todd Polster used a lap three pass on James Iverson to take the lead en route to his third feature win of the season in the Dairy Queen Street Stock class. Tom Brumlic passed Dwayne Mertens on lap 6 to claim his third feature win of the season, in the Mays Sport Center IMCA Hobby Stocks.

A pair of First time winners landed in victory lane in the Wulf Brother’s IMCA Stockcar and Door County Motorsports classes. Troy Muench picked up his first feature win of the season in the IMCA Stockcars. Jeremy Dubois won his first career feature in the 4- cylinder class leading all but one lap.

James Iverson set the pace of the Dairy Queen Street Stock feature, until Todd Polster grabbed the lead with a high-line pass. Polster immediately started to pull away from the rest of the pack. Jeremy Wiitala made his presence felt, and started to catch Polster for the lead. On lap 8, point leader, Von Etycheson, had a tire go flat and was forced out of the race. On lap 10 Wiitala had troubles with his car and took it behind the wall. With both Eytcheson and Wiitala out Polster cruised to his third feature win of the season. He was followed at the line by Scott Iverson, new point leader Mike Pierrard, Scott Reinhardt, and Jimmy Anderson. “It was nice to finally finish a race. I haven’t finished a race in four weeks.” Todd Polster after his feature win.

Dwayne Mertens held the early lead, and looked real fast on the tacky track in the Mays Sport Center IMCA Hobby Stock feature. Mertens held the lead, until Tom Brumlic made the pass using the top side of the track. “Everyone else was using the bottom two lanes so I decided to try the top-line. It worked, so I just stayed up there and grabbed the lead.” Tom Brumlic when asked why he went to the top side of the track. Brumlic, who is the current point leader, strung out his lead on the rest of the field. With Eddie Anschutz and Dave Lane in a tight battle for second, Brumlic led the rest of the way to pick up his third feature win of the season. Anschutz, Lane, Keith Kickbusch, and Tony Schlei followed Brumlic at the line.

Mike Weitor looked like the early man to beat in the Wulf Brother’s IMCA Stockcar feature race. Troy Muench jumped to the second spot, and started to track down Weitor. Muench caught Weitor on lap 7 and moved for the pass on the inside line, but the caution flew for a spin in turn three. Wietor started the re-start in the lead but Muench quickly made the pass on lap 8, and started to pull away. Jeff Vlies got passed Wietor for second and started to catch Muench. A series of cautions kept the field close. Muench kept the lead the rest of the way to win his first feature win on the season. Vlies, Eugene Gregorich, Shawn Kilgore, and Craig Paque followed Muench at the line. “It was a real good track. It was nice and tacky, I could really put my car anywhere and it was fast.” Troy Muench after picking up his 3rd career IMCA Stockcar feature win.

It was Double Payout night for the IMCA Modified division. Tony Herbst was the early leader in the Budweiser IMCA Modified Feature. He used the high-line to stay ahead of Scott Derenne. Brian Drexler caught Herbst and Derenne, and made the pass for the lead on lap 8. Drexler started to pull away from the field. Matthias started his move on the high-line. He got passed Herbst and Derenne. He next shot up to Drexler. With two laps to go Matthias went extremely high and found good bite. He got outside of Drexler, and made the pass for the lead. Matthias was never challenged the last two laps, and went on to win his third feature of the season at Thunderhill. Drexler, Benji Lacrosse, Sean Jerovetz, and Derenne followed at the checkers. Lacrosse and Jerovetz started 19th and 20th in the field. “Drexler moved down a line, and he gave me enough room on the top side of the track. Big thanks to Bill and Dawn for setting up the car.” Matthias after his win.

Jeremy Dubois went looking for his first career win and got it; only it wasn’t a heat it was one step better... the Feature event. Jeremy Dubois dominated the Door County Motorsports 4-cylinder feature. He led all but one lap in the feature event. He was followed at the line by Tyler Smith and Kip Burlo.

Next week the Vintage Modifieds will be on hand. Enduro cars and Thunderbombs are welcome to come and race. Bill Boettcher will be the sponsor. Racing gets underway at 6 p.m. Forest County Potawatomi Thunderhill Raceway’s website is www.racethunderhill.com
