Thunderhill Raceway Reschedules Car Show to Opening Day May 1st!

April 25, 2004; Sturgeon Bay, WI. -   Mother Nature won out over race car drivers and race fans planning on attending the Thunderhill Raceway car show and practice day scheduled at John Miles Park on Sunday, April 25. “The practice time will have to be scrapped for the pre-season, but the car show has been rescheduled to our opening Saturday event on May 1st,” according to co-promoter ‘Woody’ Wodack. “There are a lot of drivers that look forward to showing off months of hard work and meeting fans of all ages. The car show allows race fans to get autographs from their favorite drivers, so we’re going to make a great afternoon out of this rainout.”

The show will be open to drivers in any of the track’s five exciting racing divisions and will help in ringing in the new season on WDOR 93.9 FM opening night at Thunderhill. The show is free of charge to drivers and race fans. Cars will be put on display on the fairground’s midway behind the grandstand beginning at noon. Trophies will be awarded around 4 p.m. for the Best Appearing Car in the IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Hobby Stock, Street Stock divisions along with the Sport-4 class. Drawings will be held for car show competitors for two, 2004-season pit passes at Thunderhill and some lucky driver will draw for FREE HOTSHOTS Racing Cards for 2004 as well. The car show will also provide drivers their first opportunity to have photos taken. Local gokarters are also invited to show off their karts as well. A pre-show safety inspection will be available for drivers that bring their cars at 10 a.m.. Food concessions will be open at noon that day as well. Forest County Potawatomi will again be the major sponsor at the track.

The season opener is scheduled for Saturday night, May 1st at 6 p.m. IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Hobby Stock, Street Stock divisions along with the Sport-4 class will compete weekly on Saturday nights, with competition getting underway at 6 p.m. A special night of racing has been slated for Wednesday night, August 11 when the Forest County Potawatomi-sponsored 2nd Annual Dirt Late Model ShootOut opens the Door County Fair.
