Siefert Prepares For Thunder Hill IMCA Modified Title!
By Joe Verdegan

April 23, 2003; Sturgeon Bay, WI. - Green Bay's Jared Siefert expects the bar to be raised a bit this season as he
prepares to defend his IMCA modified championship at Thunder Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay when the season opens Saturday, May 3.

Last season despite winning a feature race Siefert kept his head above water long enough to beat out Dan Ratajczak of Frog Station and hometown veteran George Henkel to post his first IMCA modified track championship. "Those two will be right in the thick of things again this year," said Siefert, who also captured the track title at Manitowoc County Expo Speedway last year. "Plus, Eric Van Iten will be running weekly up there as well. He had a great rookie season last year. And I think Billy LeMieux will step to the plate and be a force this year, too. Things won't be any easier, that's for sure."

This year Siefert will run a Cobra house modified for Rev-Tech Racing Industries with backing provided from Quality Welding. He was a runnerup in the IMCA state championship point standings to Beaver Dam's Jay Schraufnagel last year. Siefert has plans to chase that title again as well in 2003.

In IMCA stock car action Algoma's Craig Paque will look to three-peat as champion in that division. Not really known as a flashy driver Paque is a consistent front runner who'll have a bevy of opponents capable of winning on any given night challenging him.

2002 street stock champion "Revvin Kevin" Sternard has moved up to the IMCA modified division, leaving that track title wide open for the taking. And this year the IMCA hobby stockclass makes it's debut, as many of the bomber drivers from year's past have converted their racers to conform with the IMCA rulebook.

New in 2003 will be a four cylinder class which will make it's debut. Racing starts at 6 p.m. each night. For more information call 920 743 7052. The track's website is www.racethunderhill.com. Thunder Hill Raceway is located at John Miles Park (formerly known as Door County Speedway) in Sturgeon Bay.
