Thunderhill Raceway Sets 2002 Awards
Banquet! February 4, 2003; Sturgeon Bay, WI. - Promoters of the new Thunder Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay have announced they will host an awards banquet for the 2002 season. The awards banquet will be held Saturday, Feb. 22 beginning at 6 p.m. at The Reef Sports Bar and Grill in Sturgeon Bay. Track champions in the IMCA modified, IMCA stock car, street stock and bomber divisions will be honored, as well as rookie-of-the-year in the respective divisions. Trophies will be awarded to the top five points finishers in each class. There will also be several door prizes to be given away. "Although we were not the track operators last year we felt it would be a good gesture towards the drivers and fans to get things started on a positive note," said track promoter Brian Duquaine. "We feel it's only right to honor those drivers and their accomplishments from last season." Champions include Green Bay's Jared Siefert (IMCA modified), Algoma's Craig Paque (IMCA stock car), Sturgeon Bay's Kevin Sternard (street stock) and Baileys Harbor's Scott Reinhardt (bombers). Ticket prices are $10.00 and include the buffet-style meal and free beer. Money for the banquet tickets must be received by Monday, Feb. 17. The Reef Sports Bar and Grill is located on Egg Harbor Road on Sturgeon Bay's east side. The season opener at Thunder Hill Raceway is scheduled for Saturday night, May 3 at 6 p.m. IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, street stocks, IMCA hobby stocks and a new four cylinder division will compete weekly at the third-mile, clay oval.
