(Sturgeon Bay, WI) July 18 – Pulaski’s “Hot” Rod Snellenberger survived a late race challenge from Boulder Junction’s Mark Schuenmann and Marion’s Dan Michonski to win round II of the Iron Horse Sales & Service Ironman swing for the Badger Stock Tour presented by Kick Ass Drive Train & Iron Horse Recycling at Thunder Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay Thursday.

With bonus monies Snellenberger earned $950 for his win. It capped off a night of redemption for Snellenberger, who was charged with a caution the night before at Seymour Speedway and sent to the back after battling near the front of the pack. “I’m pretty pumped to win this one,” said Snellenberger in victory lane. “I was pretty fired up after what happened last night at Seymour.”

A total of 38 BST stock cars checked in to compete at Thunder Hill.

Manitowoc’s Logan Rhode rode the top side to the lead early in the 30 lap Kick Ass Drive Train Stock Car feature. Cautions plagued the field early on as Snellenberger raced past Rhode for the lead on lap 13. Algoma’s Dave Bouche and Oconto Falls driver Eric Arneson who qualified through a last chance qualifier raced into the top five as Marion’s Dan Michonski secured the runner up position.

Bouche muscled his way under Michonski on lap 18 resulting in a flat tire for Bouche which ended his bid for the win. Schuenemann battled from row 8 and into the top 3 with 10 laps to. Schuenemann was the only driver to using the top side of the track battling past Sturgeon Bay’s Billy LeMieux for third. A caution with 3 laps remaining set up a thrilling dash to the checkers. Schuenemann raced past Michonski for second and set his sights on the leader pulling even with “Hot” Rod with 2 laps to go. Snellenberger fought back using the low groove keeping lead and barely beating Michonski and Schuenemann to the checkers for the win. It was a clean sweep for the former Thunderhill champion who won his heat race earlier in the night. Michonski battled back for second, Schunemann had to settle for third, LeMieux rallied to third after heading to pit lane early in the contest and Arneson completed the top five.

The winner of Seymour’s round I event, Scott Stewart of Oconto, just missed making the show by placing seventh in the second B main.

The Macdonalds Auto Electric Hard Charger Award went to Hortonville’s Justin Jacobson who started 24th and finish 6th.

Brandon Peterson out dueled fellow Sturgeon Bay driver Billy LeMieux to grab the lead early and held on to win the street stock feature.

Green Bay’s Jarred VanLaanen lead every lap en route to victory in the IMCA Sport Mod feature. The win is his second of the year at Thunderhill.

Round III will take place at Oshkosh Speedzone Friday, July 19. Joining the BST will be the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Gandrud Chevrolet. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m. both nights. The winner of the “Ironman” Swing will receive $1000 at Oshkosh Friday night.
