(Sturgeon Bay, WI) May 15 – Algoma’s Todd Dart would use a late race caution to score the IMCA Modified feature win at Prestige Yacht Coatings Thunderhill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay. Other feature winners were Jeremy Wiitala (stockcar), Brad Lautenbach (sport mod), Luke Lemmens (hobby Stock), Andy Paluch (street stock) and Jeremy DuBois (four-cylinders).
Jared Seifert would take the lead away from Kevin Sternard in the early laps of the IMCA Modified feature. Siefert looked to be well on his way to the feature win until a caution with 5 laps to go would bunch the field. As the green flew Siefert would take the low line with Dart sliding high. The duo would run side by side but it was Dart who would run to the high line to perfection and pick up his first win of the season. At the checkers Jay Matthias would cross the line second, Siefert third, pointes leader Shawn Kilgore fourth and Sternard fifth.
Rookie Jeremy Wiitala passes former champ Eugene Gregorich to win his first IMCA Stockcar feature.
Gregorich would jump out to a huge lead only to see it erased with a caution on lap 7. Wiitala would use the low groove at the midway point to pass Gregorich and cruise to the win followed by Greg Gretz, Charlie Kroll third, Mike Pierrard who had to qualify through the consi and Gregorich would round out the top five.
Brad Lautenbach would take command passing Tom Stark with 5 laps remaining to win his second straight feature in the IMCA Sport Mods.
A roll over by Tyler Hackett would slow action on lap 15. Hackett would spin sending cars scattering , he then would receive hard contact from Tyler Wilson, sending Hackett on his roof. Bother drivers escaped with out injury but their machines would suffer extensive damage. When racing resumed Lautenbach was able slip by Stark and take the win. Stark would settle for second, Brad Theys third, Jesse Kroll would place fourth after starting eighteenth, Steve Jorgenson would take fifth.
Andy Paluch scores first career feature win in Street Stock action.
Tony Everard and Andy Paluch would wage battle swapping the lead lap after lap. The duo would run door to door coming for the checkers with Paluch wining by mere inches. Everard would finish second, point leader James Bosman third with Gene Sternard and Jimmy Anderson rounding out the top five.
Luke Lemmens would pass Tom Brumlic with 3 laps to go and win his first feature of the season. Brumlic would finish second, Rodger LaViolette third, Marcus Moede fourth and defending champion Frank Paul fifth.
Jeremy Dubois would pass Brian Johnson with 7 laps to go and win the caution free four-cylinder feature.
