THUNDERHILL RACEWAY REACHES $10,000 IN CONTINGENCIES FOR DRIVERS IN 2014

2014 Contingency Program

By Edward Anschutz

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) December 28, 2013- Driver contingencies will be the name of the game in 2014 at Thunderhill Raceway as the total amount reaches a staggering $10,000. In a time of tracks changing promoters, ownership or even closing, the Hill has raised the bar with several hefty driver giveaways.

“I couldn’t have dreamt in only one week we‘d go from $6,500 in contingencies to $10,000!“ Stated track promoter Woody Wodack, “The support from all these great businesses is exciting to say the least! I‘m confident this will only get bigger and better.”

A brand new IMCA Modified Brinn Transmission will be given away courtesy of Billy LeMieux Racing. Fast Ed Distributors is donating a full race version GM HEI Distributor that can be used in anything from a Modified to a Hobby Stock. The Bull Pen Bar & Grill will give out several gift certificates for food and drinks. David Kohn at AMSOIL will be giving away synthetic oil and lubricants. All contingencies will be doled out at the 2014 awards banquet. Tentatively the plan is to base the giveaways on a certain percentage of races run. This rewards drivers who support the track and gives race teams a helping hand heading into the off season.

Jerovetz Motorsports Shock Service, N.E.W Racing Supply, S & B Trailers, Kroll Racing Fabrication, Woody’s Signs, Floors by Josh and Vlies Custom Race Car Bodies have already signed up to giveaway tires, shocks, race car lettering, Ford 9”, Modified & Sport Mod spruce up kits and custom racing T-Shirts.

A few front row spots remain open for purchase along with several second and third row parking spots. Call today to make sure when you pull in the gate you have your spot.

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) December 21, 2013- Thunderhill Raceway heads into 2014 with guns blazing with its most aggressive marketing plan to help drivers keep their wheels turning. A minimum $6,500 in contingencies will be dished out at the banquet to drivers who support the track. Such business’s as Jerovetz Motorsports Shock Service, N.E.W Racing Supply, S & B Trailers, Kroll Racing Fabrication, Woody’s Signs, Floors by Josh and Vlies Custom Race Car Bodies have signed up to give-away tires, shocks, race car lettering, Ford 9”, Modified & Sport Mod spruce up kits, custom racing T-Shirts and so much more. “This is just a tip of the iceberg when it comes to contingencies.” Stated track promoter Woody Wodack, “I’ve been talking non stop with supporters who are signing on, this deal could be huge for our drivers.”

The track known as the circle of death has received a huge make over courtesy of Rass Excavating. Hundreds of yards of fresh premium clay now covers the newly shaped track. The track was surveyed and laid out with state of the art equipment. All problem spots in the track, namely turn 2 and 4 were cut out. This will add banking to the exit of each corner, setting it up for late race passes. The clay was laid out from the top side of the track and worked to the bottom, this will offer drivers a multi-racing grooves around the 1/3 mile oval. The track surface was also widened out to 75’ all the way around which will make it easy to battle 3 and 4 wide racing.

The season is slated to have 18 point nights with racing starting on Saturday April 27 continuing to championship night on Saturday August 27. A special is also penciled for September 10 & 11. A few front row spots remain open for purchase along with several second and third row parking spots. Call today to make sure when you pull in the gate you have your spot.

Rules for the Street Stocks will remain basically the same as last year with a just a few minor tweaks. John Sternard will be the Rep for the division.

Everyone here at the Hill wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

Eagles Inside Groove…

Its hard to believe it’s the final night of the year. With 141 off, Saturday will most likely bring a few new faces. Speaking of faces the track saw 136 drivers take the green flag for the 2013 season. For those teams getting ready for the IMCA Super Nationals we wish you the best of luck! Racing kicks off in Boone, Iowa starting on Monday and the super features will take place on Saturday. This season has really been good for our local drivers as they have taken several big wins in out of state specials. Benji LaCrosse, Tracy Wassenberg and Jeremy Christains each have brought home the prestigious honor of Super Nationals champion. The races can be seen on your computer with www.xsan.tv the entire week with a paid fee, similar to pay-per-view.

Down to the meat of championship night, James Tebon has locked up the title in the Modifieds. Its his second straight championship in the division.

The Stock Car crown is still to be decided as defending champ Dave Bouche holds a 12 point gap over Shawn Havel. There has been talk of added drivers for this class coming into Saturday so anything is possible. If Bouche finishes 11th or better he will lock up the championship regardless of where Havel finishes.

A closer contest comes in way of the Sport Mods. Defending champ Bernie Reinhardt comes into the night just 3 points ahead of Randy LeMiuex Jr. Jarred VanLaanen is also in the mix sitting 5 points behind Reinhardt.

3 points is also the gap in the Hobby Stocks where Scott Boulanger leads Derek Moede. Joe Hegnet still has a chance at the title but needs help being 11 out of the lead.

Keith Kickbusch just has to start the feature to take his first Street Stock title.
