Thunderhill Raceway moves opening night to May 11 / Practice on May 4

Posted under Headlines, News on April 29th, 2013

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) April 29, 2013- Thunderhill Raceway staff members have decided to push opening night to Saturday May 11 due to weather and track conditions. Its been a fine line mastering mother nature. One way or another we plan to get cars on the track before our new opening night.

Practice will now take place on Saturday May 4 at 2pm till ?? We realize everyone is amped up and ready for the season to start but we will always be cautious when it comes to drivers and the track. The last thing we want is drivers tearing up equipment. Practice cost $15 for anyone entering the pits. Grandstands are free.

“Every time the track surface starts to become workable, we get cold rainy weather and it halts all progress and we have to start the whole process all over again.”

Once again WDOR 93.9 FM will host the first night of the season. Maas Floral will be on hand with flowers to celebrate Mothers Day. We will be working with DOOR CANcer for the entire 2013 season, more information coming soon.

Actions kicks off Saturday May 11 with IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Northern Sport Mod, IMCA Hobby Stock and Street Stocks will compete on the 1/3rd mile clay oval. For more information, please visit the track’s website at www.racethunderhill.com Thunderhill is located at the John Miles Fair Park on Sturgeon Bay’s east side. Pit gates open at 3:30 P.M. racing starts at 6:00 P.M. For your social media outlet like Thunderhill Raceway on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
