KIDS BIG WHEEL RACES ON WITT FORD NIGHT AT THUNDERHILL

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) With only 3 nights remaining, the action at Prestige Yacht Coatings Thunderhill Raceway is sure to be hot and heavy for Witt Peninsula Night this Saturday, August 18. The annual Kids Big Wheel Races will also be on hand this Saturday and take place on the front stretch at intermission.

Last week saw four of the six division point leaders encounter issues allowing for some of the tightest points battles in recent history. As we head into week 10 James Tebon’s stranglehold in the Kelsey Racing IMCA Modifieds hasn’t wavered as a result of a second place finish last week. Tebon has held the point lead since opening night where he picked up the first of 5 feature wins this season. Billy LeMieux sits solidly in the second spot and is still in title contention 25 points behind Tebon.

Defending Champion Troy Muench still sits as leader in the Algoma Motors IMCA Stock Cars, but his nicely padded point lead was erased when he suffered a flat tire last week. Dave Bouche has been consistent and mechanically sound all season which has pushed him to second in standings, Bouche trails the leader by a mere 2 points. Jeremy Wiitala scored his first feature of the season at the right time receiving max points while the point leader faltered. Wiitala trails Muench by just 3 points. This battle looks to be one for the ages and will come down to the final lap of the 2012 season.

Jarred VanLaanen’s bid for his first championship in the Butchs Auto IMCA Sport Mods took a huge blow when his engine grenaded while running second with just 3 laps remaining in the feature. Second place points runner Bernie Reinhardt used this too his advantage closing the gap to just 5 points. Kelsy Hayes busted out of her slump of bad luck and trails VanLaanen by 9 markers. Title contender leader Randy LeMieux Jr. never made it to the green flag suffering transmission issues before the night even started. This pulled LeMieux Jr out of the title hunt for the season.

As of 3 weeks ago Tom Brumlic lead the LaVine’s Ice IMCA Hobby Stocks by a whopping 20 points over Derek Moede. As they had into action this weekend Brumlic’s lead has shrunk to just 2 points. Brumlic suffered a flat tire mid race while Moede scored second. This allowed CJ Weckler to close in as well, he sits 13 points back of Brumlic.

The Lackie Rentals Street Stocks are led by Dennis Weidner who again needed his backup car after wrecking in the heat race. This cost him points to Jimmy Anderson in the battle for the championship. Anderson sits just 8 back of the leader. Despite missing a night of racing Geno Sternard is now within striking distance for the title, he’s 15 points back of Weidner.

Joey Scoon looks to have the title wrapped up in the Feisty Fours proved aliens don’t abduct him. He has a 35 point lead over Matt Sargent.

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) June 21, 2015 Results- Shawn Havel took his Wolfe Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car to victory for the second week in a row at Thunderhill Raceway. Other feature winners were Tyler Hackett (IMCA Modified), Jacob Zellner (IMCA Sport Mod), Marcus Moede (IMCA Hobby Stock) and James Dahlstrom (Street Stock).

Five members were inducted into the Thunderhill Raceway Hall of Fame. They were Wally Massart, Darrell Massart, Reggie Cochart, Jerry Jonet and George Henkel.

HAVEL HUSTLES TO IMCA STOCK CAR WIN / ENGEBREGTSEN GETS FIRST VICTORY

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) Sunday, June 14 2015 Results- Shawn Havel used a late race restart to snatch victory from Scott Reinhardt in the IMCA Stock Cars at Thunderhill Raceway. Other feature winners were Tyler Hackett (IMCA Modified), Vince Engebregtsen (IMCA Sport Mod), Marcus Moede (IMCA Hobby Stock) and James Dahlstrom (Street Stock). A total of 73 cars we on hand for the new night as well as a solid crowd.

THUNDERHILL RACEWAY IS RACING THIS SUNDAY JUNE 7 AT 5:30PM

In a move to try and improve car count and fan attendance, Thunderhill Raceway has decided to move its Terry Simon Memorial to this Sunday June 7 with a new start time of 5:30pm. In action will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks and the Thunder Trucks. Fans will receive free popcorn.
