(Sturgeon Bay, WI) Hopes and dreams can become reality this Saturday night September 1 at Prestige Yacht Coatings Thunderhill Raceway for championship night. For others it may mean a very long off season in wondering what more they could have done to take home the championship. Floors by Josh will play host to the seasons final event.
Floors by Josh is owned and operated by IMCA Sport Mod driver Josh Massart. They do everything from residential to commercial flooring. For more information please call (920) 333-0075
If there was a night Dave Bouche needed a feature win, Saturday’s victory in the IMCA Stock Car feature was the one to have. It was his first of the season after a 10 lap race battle with defending Champion and title contender Troy Muench. Bouche enters the final night with a 2 point edge over Muench. Jeremy Wiitala’s third place finish in feature leaves him still in the title hunt just 4 marks back of the leader. Every lap for these drivers will feel like a million miles as they chase for the top spot in the standings.
Bernie Reinhardt also had a very clutch night picking up his fourth feature win of the season in the IMCA Sport Mods vaulting him to the lead with one night remaining. Jarred VanLaanen will have to beat Reinhardt by two spots on the track to take sole possession of the title, as he now trails Reinhardt by a mere 1 point. Kelsy Hays is still mathematically still in the hunt just 7 back, but she will need a little luck on her side to take home the title. Reinhardt has been a main stay at Thunderhill since it reopened in 1993, he has the chance to be the first driver with 3 championships in 3 different divisions. The crowd will be on the edge of their seat to see if he can complete this feat.
The IMCA Hobby Stock title will come down to two drivers both looking for their first track title. Tom Brumlic leads Derek Moede by 6 points. Moede looked to shave off more points last Saturday but got clipped by a car that lost control on the final lap cutting down his front tire. Brumlic battled motor issues and finished towards the tail end of the field. One mistake this Saturday could mean lights out for either title contender.
The Street Stocks are much of the same with Dennis Weidner and Jimmy Anderson going to battle. Weidner leads by just 5 points. Weidner has realized what he needs to do to win the title and stayed tight on Anderson’s bumper the whole feature. He will look to do the same this weekend. Anderson will need a little luck and a solid finish to put the pressure on Weidner.
James Tebon has a solid 30 point lead in the IMCA Modifieds over Billy LeMieux. Tebon has been mechanically sound all season and should claim the title when he takes to the 1/3 mile clay oval for the final time in 2012.
Joey Scoon has a large enough lead that he officially locked up the Feisty Fours Championship, the title is the first career for the former Rookie of The Year.
