The battle for the Algoma Motors IMCA Stock Car title has been up in the air all season and this week is no exception as Troy Muench climbs back to the top of the standings. Dave Bouche has been consistent all season and sits in the second spot only 3 points behind Muench. Jeremy Wiitala had a transmission failure which dropped him to third but he’s still right in the thick of it just 7 points of the leader. Marcus Moede is the Rookie leader in the Stock Cars.
The chase for the crown in the Butchs Auto IMCA Sport Mods gets tighter and tight every week. The top 3 drivers are only separated by a total of 6 points. Randy LeMieux Jr., again holds the top spot with Jarred VanLaanen a mere 2 points back and Bernie Reinhardt has made a mid season charge to third in the standings just 6 back of LeMieux. 2011 Hobby Stock Champion Brandon Peterson leads the Rookie points in the Sport Mods.
LaVine’s Ice IMCA Hobby Stock point leader Tom Brumlic received maximum points winning the feature on Saturday. The victory pushed him to a 15 point lead over CJ Weckler. Brittany King is the leading Rookie in the Hobby Stocks.
Dennis Weidner has had the wildest year of all the point leaders. He holds the top spot in the Lackie Rentals Street Stock division. Weidner again blew an engine in the heat race and had to rush back to East Maplewood to get his spare car. With Marvin Denny having mechanical issues Jimmy Anderson moved to second in points 7 marks back of Weidner. The Street Stocks saw the return of former Champion Von Eytcheson, Von won his heat but was able to start the feature. Jason Barfell is the leading Rookie in the Street Stocks.
Although Todd Polster and Geno Sternard missed the first point night they have both slowly marched up the standings and despite that night off if they keep winning they could be a factor for the title. Polster leads the class with 3 feature wins.
