(Sturgeon Bay, WI) July 12 – Fans will get to meet and get the autograph of their favorite racer this Saturday July 16 at Prestige Yacht Coatings Thunderhill Raceway.
The night will be brought you by Sturgeon Bay’s Sonny’s Pizzeria and The Draft Haus Sports Bar. Saturday nights after the races the Draft Haus offers anyone with a paid wristband a free mug of beer or free rail mixer.
For fans who are looking for something for the drivers to sign, the Dan Lewis Photography trailer offers many options, from pictures to checkers flag. Lewis also offers custom designed photos. So just stop at the big black trailer located behind the grandstand to purchase whatever you may need.
“Felix” Todd Dart picked up the 300th feature run in the IMCA Modifieds last Saturday. The win was Darts 43rd in just that class which is a division high with Eugene Gregorich holding second with 22 feature wins.
Troy Muench picked up his third feature win of the season and extended his point lead to 16 over Dave Bouche. Muench and Bouche are former Street Stock champions at Thunderhill with Bouche taking the title in 1995 and Muench in 2003. Muench is the defending Luxemburg Speedway IMCA Stock Car champion but either driver has yet to take home the crown in the Stock Cars at Thunderhill. Mike Pierrard is the only driver at Thunderhill to take a title in the Street Stocks and Stock Cars.
Brad Lautenbach marched through the field in the Sport Mods taking home his third win of the season after suffering a flat tire in the heat race that relegated him to the rear for the start of the feature. The win was his 16th total and is a division high. The top three finishers in the feature were all driving cars that were raced in the Modified class before being converted into IMCA Sport Mods. Brad’s car use to be Sawn Jerovetz’s Harris, Tyler Hackett’s use to be Mike Mashl’s Shaw and Kelsy Hayes’s use to be Mike Wedelstadt’s Side Biter. In the four years of the division no driver has be able to repeat as champion.
Special thanks to track historian Tom Wagner for feature win stats.
