For GPS users the Draft Haus is located at 901 Egg Harbor Rd. Sturgeon Bay.

Eagles Inside Groove…

Its hard to believe it’s the final night of the year. With 141 off, Saturday will most likely bring a few new faces. Speaking of faces the track saw 136 drivers take the green flag for the 2013 season. For those teams getting ready for the IMCA Super Nationals we wish you the best of luck! Racing kicks off in Boone, Iowa starting on Monday and the super features will take place on Saturday. This season has really been good for our local drivers as they have taken several big wins in out of state specials. Benji LaCrosse, Tracy Wassenberg and Jeremy Christains each have brought home the prestigious honor of Super Nationals champion. The races can be seen on your computer with www.xsan.tv the entire week with a paid fee, similar to pay-per-view.

Down to the meat of championship night, James Tebon has locked up the title in the Modifieds. Its his second straight championship in the division.

The Stock Car crown is still to be decided as defending champ Dave Bouche holds a 12 point gap over Shawn Havel. There has been talk of added drivers for this class coming into Saturday so anything is possible. If Bouche finishes 11th or better he will lock up the championship regardless of where Havel finishes.

A closer contest comes in way of the Sport Mods. Defending champ Bernie Reinhardt comes into the night just 3 points ahead of Randy LeMiuex Jr. Jarred VanLaanen is also in the mix sitting 5 points behind Reinhardt.

3 points is also the gap in the Hobby Stocks where Scott Boulanger leads Derek Moede. Joe Hegnet still has a chance at the title but needs help being 11 out of the lead.

Keith Kickbusch just has to start the feature to take his first Street Stock title.

Defending champ Bernie Reinhardt now holds a 1 point advantage over LeMieux Jr. Jarred VanLaanen still clings to title hopes after his 3rd feature win of the season. He trails Reinhardt by 6 points.

The IMCA Hobby Stock title chase has thickened as Scott Boulanger took over the top spot with his 7th feature win of the season. Derek Moede sits just 1 point back of the leader.

Defending IMCA Stock Car champ Dave Bouche picked up his 3rd feature win of the season and holds a solid 13 point edge over Shawn Havel.

KIDS BIG WHEEL RACES FOR WITT FORD NIGHT AT THUNDERHILL AUGUST 17

By Edward Anschutz

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) August 15, 2013- Thunderhill Raceway heads into the weekend with only 3 nights remaining. The pressure is on the point leaders to keep their top spot while drivers 2nd on back are breathing down their neck. This Saturday, August 17 will be brought to you by Witt Peninsula Ford. During intermission the annual Kids Big Wheel race will take place. Witt Ford is also be giving away a remote control car.

Eagles Inside Groove…

Action has been hot and heavy. Those who were around last Saturday definitely got their moneys worth in the Stock Car feature. Rivalries are a part of racing and its possible another one was born. The feature video courtesy of Pain Racing was one of the most shared races of the season. Being a track official can be a thankless job. Most cases it doesn’t matter what choices are made, someone will be mad. The NFL has instant replay and still cant get calls correct. In racing its 1000 times as harder. With race cars reaching 60-70mph things happen quicker than a blink of an eye. Its easy for fans to point out things when they sit and watch 1 or 2 drivers then entire race. Try to watch ALL the cars for 18 laps. The Promoter and Flagman are the ones who take the most heat, when in fact the Promoter makes zero track calls and the flagman takes heat for well just about anything and everything. Make sure keep an open thought process when a call is made, 99% of the time of the officials see a lot more than you do.

While were on that note, remember the scores or the announcer don’t make any track calls. We just relay the message. So yelling at them does nothing.

Dan Ratajczak who was challenging for his first IMCA Modified title was involved in a 4-wheeler mishap, which resulted with a trip to the hospital with several broke bones. Everyone at the Hill wishes Dan a full and speedy recovery. Ratajczak still leads the class with 3 feature wins.

Speaking of Modifieds James Lee Tebon earned his first feature win of the year. The defending champ has the title wrapped up with a 37 point lead. It also appears Greg Gretz has the Rookie of The Year honors locked up.

In IMCA Stock Car action it was Dave Bouche scoring his 2nd feature win of the season. Bouche is also your defending champ and holds a 13 point edge over Shawn Havel. Havel leads the division with 3 feature wins. With all the action that took place in last weeks feature the battle for the title took a back seat. I suspect some of that same thought process will take place Saturday if the fire fly again.

A shake up in the IMCA Sport Mod standings took place when defending champion Bernie Reinhardt suffered a flat and went laps down. Randy LeMieux Jr. was there to capitalized taking the point lead for the first time this season. He holds a 7 point edge over Reinhardt.

Scott Boulanger has been the man to beat in the IMCA Hobby Stocks as he picked up his 6th feature win. Even with those wins he still sits second in the standings 1 mere point behind Derek Moede. Moede also has a tight points battle at Luxemburg where he his co-point leader. Both drivers are looking for their first track title. 2003 Hobby champ Joe Hegnet has been a model of consistency and is still in the title hunt sitting 9 back of Moede.

Keith Kickbusch leads the Street Stock points with a 17 point lead over Kevin Leudtke. Kickbusch holds 2 track titles at the Hill in the Hobby Stocks. He also is the current leader at Luxemburg.

By Edward Anschutz

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) July 24, 2013 Press Release- Thunderhill Raceway to pay $1,000 cash money to the feature winners in the Kelsey Racing IMCA Modifieds and Bull Pen Bar & Grill IMCA Stock Cars this Saturday, July 27. This will be the 3rd time this season the purse has reached One Thousand Dollars or more. Even with the added cash it’s being treated as a usual point night with starting position going by point average. With that said “outsiders” have done very well matching up against our locals. Who will be the next “Thousand Dollar Man or Woman?”

Its that time of the year again where fans come out in full force for the annual “Trailer Race of Destruction” brought to you by Quietwoods RV Sales & Service. Quietwoods RV has been gracious enough to donate 4 campers that will be destroyed after the final feature of the night. One of the objects that will meet its demise is a 26’ 2012 camper. “Many people have asked why a new camper? The answer is all about the awe factor and entertainment for our fans!” Stated track promoter Woody Wodack.

We still have spots open on the grid for the trailer race if you wish to compete please contact Woody. Also please make note of vehicle, name and number at the back gate so they announcer knows who you are!

Eagles Inside Groove…

Rookies have taken a strong hold all over local short tracks in North Eastern Wisconsin. The Kelsey Racing IMCA Modifieds are proof of that. Kewaunee’s Greg Gretz has won 2 feature in a row plus 4 heat races. Gretz is the rookie leader despite a late start to the season.

Luxemburg’s Jacob Zellner joined the local rookie young guns by scoring he first ever LaVine’s Ice IMCA Sport Mod feature at The Hill. Zellner is a former national cart champion. Check out the latest edition of Full Throttle Magazine to learn more about our local young guns driving into victory lane at your race track.

Speaking of “outsiders” again our “locals” Luxemburg’s Jared Siefert won the first $800 Mod show on opening night. Sturgeon Bay’s Bernie Reinhardt also took home over $1,000 in the IMCA Sport Mods just a couple weeks ago. Pulaski’s “Hot” Rod Snellenberger netted $950 last week in his victory at the Hill during the Badger Stock Car tour.

With only 5 nights remaining point battles are heating up. The IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods and IMCA Hobby Stocks are single digits apart from first to second in the standings. To see who’s in the points battle check out the track website or pick up a free points sheet located several places at the track courtesy Dan & Mary Lewis.

Eagle’s Inside Groove…The Terry Simon Memorial has been rescheduled for next Saturday.

Jamie Suckocki broke a very long winless streak holding off the defending IMCA Stock Car champion Dave Bouche and former Stock Car champ Larry Karcz Jr. who won the title in 1999. Karcz is wheel a Wolfe Chassis formerly owned by Eric and Chris Malfoid. The current owner of the car is George Paul who also fields a car for Street Stock point leader Keith Kickbusch. Karcz is slated to run the Badger Stock Car Tour which makes its way to Thunderhill on Thursday July 18. A solid field of talent is expected for the Thursday Night Thunder event.

A unique feat took place in the IMCA Modified and IMCA Sport Mods where a father and son stood in victory when the night ended. Dan and Andy Ratajczak became members of a select list of father/son tandems that scored feature wins on the same night. Track Historian Tom Wagner keeps track of all those stats and I’ll be contacting him to get the complete list of all the families who have done as they did.

I encourage everyone to check the remaining schedule for Thunderhill as there is so much going on I cant fit it on one press release. There’s a little something for everyone, some come get your thrill at Thunderhill.

CALLING ALL DRIVERS…REALITY TV FOOTAGE TO BE SHOT THIS SATURDAY JUNE 29 AT THUNDERHILL RACEWAY / RIBEYE SANDWICHES / DRIVER AUTOGRAPHS

By Edward Anschutz
Editorial Contributor Mike Kelsey

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) June 25, 2013- Reality show footage is scheduled to be shot this Saturday June 29 at Thunderhill Raceway with racing kicking off at 6pm. In April a meeting was held with a television producer/promoter with the plan of trying to get a racing reality show off the ground that featured the dynamic of the girls vs. boys battling on the flat 1/3 mile clay oval. The second round of recording was set to take place at our opener but mother nature wiped that out. Weather permitting the long awaited footage will be shot this Saturday.

We’re doing an unofficial casting call for all female and male drivers. The ladies will be in the spotlight, so if you’re a female racer we want to see you this weekend. It only takes one look on Facebook after a night of racing to realize some of the guys don’t like racing with or being beat by girls or vice versa. Racing drama is better than any soap opera and for us to keep pursuing this reality show we need the real you. So if the camera ends up on you, be yourself . We want the good the bad and the ugly!

Eagles Inside Groove…This weekends racing will be brought to you by Marchants Meats and the delicious Ribeye Sandwiches will available at the concession stand all night. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

All about the Kids…Parents and children make sure to stop by the Dan Lewis Photography trailer and purchase a checker flag as we’ll be holding a Driver Autograph session for all the race fans. Dan, Mary and Mike Sr. always come prepared for race fans each and every night. For a few bucks you can have a great memory and souvenir for years to come.

As if the go-karts for the kids wasn’t enough the track is also offering bus rides around the track at intermission. The bus is able capable carrying 17 kids at a time. Other local race tracks have had great success with this and for us it allows the children who aren’t tall enough to drive the go-karts a chance to get on the race track.

The Terry Simon Memorial will be rescheduled. With 141 Speedway off this Saturday we are hoping for added fans and drivers for the cameras.

Five divisions do battle every Saturday night through the summer. IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Northern Sport Mod, IMCA Hobby Stock and Street Stocks will compete on the 1/3rd mile clay oval.
