Street Stock Bounty

By Edward Anschutz

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) June 4, 2014 – Race fans will be able to get autographs from their favorite drivers this Saturday June 7 at Thunderhill Raceway. Dan Lewis Photography will have a surplus of checkered flags for purchase to put those signatures on. Autograph session will take place at intermission.

The night is being brought to you by Jim Olson Motors of Sturgeon Bay. A brand new GM 602 Crate Engine will go to one lucky racer in the IMCA Sport Mod or IMCA Hobby Stock division at the 2014 banquet courtesy of Jim Olson Motors.

Race Wars…
A $200 bounty has been put on Sturgeon Bay Street Stock driver Billy LeMieux for anyone who can cleanly beat him and take home the feature win. The $200 is being added onto the winners purse. Billy has 3 feature wins in a row to start the season and led the division last season with 5 feature wins and 7 heat race wins. If LeMieux wins again, $100 will be added and the bounty continues to the next weekend of racing. Should LeMieux DNF the race, the bounty will continue.

“Wissota Street Stocks will be legal to run but must be 100% Wissota legal. Thunderhill Street Stock rules are available on the track website.”We’ve kept the rules very open to allow for any area Street Stock to be able to race here with little or no modification in 2014.” ~staff management Edward Anschutz

By Edward Anschutz

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) May 1, 2014- Due to extremely wet conditions Prestige Yacht Coatings Thunderhill Raceway has cancelled it’s opener that was scheduled for this Saturday May 3. With rain all week and cool temperatures the track is simply to soft.

“As I’ve stated from the beginning, we will look out for the drivers and their race cars. The best way to do so early on is with a smooth racing surface.” Stated track promoter Woody Wodack; “We are crossing our fingers in hope that mother nature plays nice and we can get the season rolling next weekend.”

Mothers Day weekend will play host to our season opener on Saturday May 10 and will be brought to you by Maas Floral, Woody’s Signs and WDOR.

A practice for next week is still on the slate, weather permitting. Stay tuned to your social media outlets for information on when that will take place.

The banquet date for the $30,000 driver contingency program has been set for November 8 at The Draft Haus in Sturgeon Bay. Drivers can not miss more that 3 nights of racing and must attend the banquet in order to be eligible for all contingencies. A complete inventory of contingencies will be released very soon as the list has grown.

IMCA MODIFIEDS WILL PAY $650 TO WIN SEASON OPENER AT THUNDERHILL

By Edward Anschutz
Editorial contributor Mike Kelsey

(Sturgeon Bay, WI)  May 5, 2013- With the May 11 season opener less than a week away the IMCA Modifieds will be chasing added cash to win the feature at Thunderhill Raceway. A great supporter of the track offered to kick in some extra cash, bringing first place pay to a guaranteed $650. In addition a hard charger bonus of $50 will be added to the driver who passes the most cars in the feature

Thunderhill’s Modified class has fluctuated through recent years and there has be a lot of trash talking that anyone can win at the track known as the “Circle of Death” due its unique design. Its time to put up or shut up come opening night. We’re calling out the best in the IMCA Modified division to come and try to beat our hard working blue color locals. If you can do so, you’ll be walking away with a pocket full of cash….If not, it’ll once again prove our regulars are some of the best in the business.

Normally these type of added cash races come at end of the year specials at the expense of the drivers who pay large pit gate fees. Thunderhill is set to change all that offering a one time $50 membership fee, you basically get in FREE for all regular point nights. With our opener coming on May 11 it’ll offer drivers a fresh start to chase a championship if they’ve been off to a rough start at other tracks. Pits spots are still available.

Thunderhill Raceway moves opening night to May 11 / Practice on May 4

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) April 29, 2013- Thunderhill Raceway staff members have decided to push opening night to Saturday May 11 due to weather and track conditions. Its been a fine line mastering mother nature. One way or another we plan to get cars on the track before our new opening night.

Practice will now take place on Saturday May 4 at 2pm till ?? We realize everyone is amped up and ready for the season to start but we will always be cautious when it comes to drivers and the track. The last thing we want is drivers tearing up equipment. Practice cost $15 for anyone entering the pits. Grandstands are free.

“Every time the track surface starts to become workable, we get cold rainy weather and it halts all progress and we have to start the whole process all over again.”

Once again WDOR 93.9 FM will host the first night of the season. Maas Floral will be on hand with flowers to celebrate Mothers Day. We will be working with DOOR CANcer for the entire 2013 season, more information coming soon.

Actions kicks off Saturday May 11 with IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Northern Sport Mod, IMCA Hobby Stock and Street Stocks will compete on the 1/3rd mile clay oval. Thunderhill Practice Cancelled for Saturday April 27

(Possible Make Up Dates Under Consideration)

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) April 25, 2013- Thunderhill Raceway has once again been forced to halt practice for Saturday April 27. Several track works and management surveyed the pit area and track surface. They all agreed it’s still to wet and soft. They still attempted to get on the track only to realize if they went any further, they would’ve gotten stuck.

We don’t want to see anyone wreck their cars. We are going the safe route in hopes of having a solid race surface when the green flag drops on our 2013 season. We are still looking at other possible dates to hold a practice before opening night, so stay tuned.

2010 Season Letter to Drivers

Welcome drivers, to the 2010 season. We are having a drivers meeting on Wednesday, November 18th at 7:00p.m. The meeting will be held at The Ladder House in the upstairs banquet hall. We would like to see all drivers, new and old. There will be a number of things to discuss at this meeting.

The good news is Thunderhill will be racing in 2010. Prestige Yacht Coatings is on board as the title sponsor for another year. What Joe Hernandez, owner of PYC did for the track, along with all the ’09 sponsors was tremendous. I fully expect to continue the great year we had, right into the 2010 season!

The areas I want to go over…2010 schedule, specials, rules in general, class reps, any input / thoughts that you as a driver may have.

We also will be going over 1st and 2nd row pit spots. To hold your previous spot you will need to have paid for it in full, before or on the date of the meeting, otherwise it will be put up for lottery. The prices for pit spots are the same, $100.00 for 1st row, and $50.00 for second row. Any other pit spot being reserved in all remaining rows will also be $50.00. The name on the pit spot is responsible for that spot.  Again this year I had parking issues in the second row, I need to get this resolved. I will make every effort to keep in order & everyone in the correct spots.

The classes that will be running for points are the IMCA Mods, Sport mods, Stock cars, Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks, and 4-cylinders. 2010 rules for most classes and IMCA licenses will be available. We also may be looking for reps in the IMCA divisions. Anyone that is interested can come talk to me.

Any questions and concerns that you may have will be discussed at the meeting.

Sincerely,

Bryan Wodack
