BISSEN ASPHALT & STURGEON BAY SAND AND GRAVEL TO HOST MODIFIED NIGHT AT THE HILL

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) August 18 – The IMCA Modified division will be in the spot light on Bissen Asphalt & Sturgeon Bay Sand and Gravel night at Prestige Yacht Coatings ThunderHill Raceway this Saturday August 21. Time permitting we will have driver intro’s for the modified feature.

Weekly Notes:

Long time veteran racer Tony Bouche pulled the upset winning in the IMCA Stockcar class. It was his first feature win since June 28, 1996. Which came at Luxemburg Tri-Star Speedway. His last win at ThunderHill came in 1980 driving a #71 Dodge for Joe Krautkramer in what was a street stock class.

Other notes for the IMCA Stock Cars: “Chargin” Charlie Kroll now sits a top the point standings after Greg Gretz would cut a LF front tire down sending him to pit lane. Gretz would finish 11th while Kroll would place 6th. Kroll now holds a 2 point edge over Gretz with 3 points nights remaining.

Geno Sternard sits a top the street stock standings with a 4 point lead over Rookie James Bosman and 5 points over Rookie Tony Everard. Bosman and Sternard came into last Saturday tight for the lead, but Bosman would suffer a broken transmission and would have to borrow a car for the feature. Bosman’s night would turn from bad to worse as he would end up rolling over the borrowed car, ending his night with a 7th place finish. Sternard would place third in the main, and Everard also in a borrowed car would place 4th.

The lead duo of Todd Dart And Jay Matthias in the IMCA Modifieds would make fireworks as pair made contact in turn 2 midway through the feature. Dart would spin to a stop with a left rear flat and the caution would fly. The race would resume as Dart sat on pit lane, but quick work by his crew would keep him on the lead lap. But a couple laps the #3 machine would suffer a broken rear gear and would coast to the infield ending his night with a 15th place finish while Matthias would come 5th extending his point lead to 11.

After taking the last 6 years off “Mighty” Maynard Hegnet returned to victory lane in the IMCA Hobby Stocks collecting his 2nd career win in the division, his last win coming in August 2, 2003. Luke Lemmens holds a 7 point edge over Brandon Peterson in the standings.

Eric “Chummy” Arneson holds a commanding 31 point lead over Tom Stark in the IMCA Sport Mods.. Chummy has yet to find the winner circle, but has been a model of constancy.

Jeremy DuBois holds a 7 point lead over Mike Sargent in the Feisty Fours.

Thunderhill is located at the John Miles Fair Park on Sturgeon Bay’s east side with racing in the six divisions beginning every Saturday night through the summer. With IMCA modifieds, stock cars, hobby stocks, northern sport mods, street stocks & 4 cylinders in action. Pit gates open at 4:00pm, racing starts at 6:00 PM. WITT FORD BIG WHEEL NIGHT AT THE HILL / POINTS BATTLES TIGHTEN WITH 4 WEEKS TO GO

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) August 12 – Witt Peninsula Ford will be the title sponsor for this Saturday August 14 at Prestige Yacht Coatings ThunderHill Raceway.

Kids big wheel races will take place at intermission on the front stretch. You must enter the track from the turn one entrance located to the right side of the grandstand.

Weekly Notes:

With only 4 points nights left with each position in the feature becomes more critical. Each spot in the feature is worth one point with the winner getting receiving 40.

In the IMCA Modifieds Jay Matthias holds the top spot for the first time this season, holding a 1 point lead over Todd Dart. Matthias is eyeing his first career title, while Dart has 6 titles to his résumé.

Greg Gretz had the title all but wrapped up in the IMCA Stock cars until a broken transmission relegated him to a 20th place finish last Saturday night. Gretz’s closes competitor Charlie Kroll came home with a 2nd place finish putting him within 3 points of Gretz. Gretz still has his sights set on his first career title, while Kroll has one ThunderHill title to his credit taking the top prize in 1994.

Eric Arneson sits firmly atop the IMCA Sport Mods holding a 19 point lead over Ryan LeMieux. LeMieux has out run Arneson the couple week, so look for the title chase to come down the last night. Neither driver have never won at title at ThunderHill.

Luke Lemmens leads in the IMCA Hobby Stocks with a 9 point edge over Brandon Peterson. Both Drivers are eyeing there first career championships. Lemmens is also battling for a state title sitting 2nd 5 points behind Marcus Moede.

The battle for the top spot in the Street Stocks has been the most changing, as it seems to change after every night of racing. Fresh off his 2nd feature win of the season Geno Sternard climbs into a tie with James Bosman for the lead. Bosman suffered heavy damage in a wreck and limped his racer home to a 13th place finish. Rookie Tony Everard came home with a 3rd place finish and sits just 4 markers back of Sternard and Bosman.

Despite having 4 feature wins on the season, Jeremy DuBois holds a 9 point lead over Mike Sargent in the Feisty Fours.

Weekly Notes:

Jay Matthias became the ninth in different winner in as many nights in the IMCA Mods. With his win he now pulls within 1 point of leader Todd Dart with just 6 nights remaining.

Scott Reinhardt not only scored his first top 4 in the IMCA Stockcars he also scored his first career win! Reinhardt is a former Bomber and Street Stock Champion.

The Street Stock points lead again changed hands as Andy Paluch suffered damage in an opening lap wreck and went laps down. Opening night feature winner James Bosman now sits back a top the standings.

Action was hot and heavy in the IMCA Stockcar class, as 4 engines were claimed after the feature. The lines have been drawn in the sand so to speak and pits area is divided. You can expect the sparks in to fly in the class they call “Too tough To Tame” this Saturday night.

Weekly Notes:

Travis Hackett capture his first career win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks. This is Travis’s rookie season for the former quad racer. The car Hackett is racing is no stranger to the clay at ThunderHill. The car originated in the late 90’s, built by former Street Stock Champion, Shawn Olson. The car was originally built as a 2 man enduro car. It was then later converted to a Hobby Stock where it was piloted by Kelsy Hayes last season. Hackett scored a clean sweep winning the heat as well.

Along with Hackett scoring their first ThunderHill wins, Kyle Wanner picked up his first ever Hill feature in the IMCA Stockcars and Joey Scoon capture his first career feature in only his 4th night racing in the Feisty 4’s.

But the story of the night had to be in the IMCA Modifieds as Veteran Chris Derenne held off a hard charging Jared Siefert to pick his first feature win since 7/22/00.

Special thanks to Tom Wagner for official ThunderHill Raceway stats.

LAKSIDE PAINTING & SHERMAN WILLIAMS TO HOST 4 CYLINDER NIGHT AT THE HILL

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) July 7- The Feisty 4 Cylinders will be in the spot light on Lakeside Painting and Sherman Williams night at Prestige Yacht Coatings ThunderHill Raceway this Saturday July 10. Time permitting we will have driver intro’s for the 4 cylinder feature.

Weekly Notes:

After a tough start to the season James Lee Tebon picked up his first feature win of the year in the IMCA Modifieds. Tebon is a former street stock driver now has a handful of feature wins in the Mods.

The point lead in Street Stocks seems to be a revolving door as we saw a third different point leader in 7 nights of racing. With a 3rd place finish, 2-time feature winner Andy Paluch moved to the top of the hill, holding a slim 3 point lead over James Bosman and Geno Sternard.

Chargin Charlie Kroll picked up the win in the IMCA Stock Cars, his first at ThunderHill. Kroll fought of point leader Greg Gretz who came home second. Once in victory lane, Kroll would be notified that the #60 of Kyle Wanner had claimed his engine. Kroll would accept the claim and the two parties would swap engines. Kroll now sits 3rd in the standing behind John Heinz and Gretz.

IMCA rules allow anyone on the lead lap to claim the engine of anyone of the top 4 finishers. Its up to the driver being claimed to choose if he wants to deny the claim, accept and take the money, or accept and swap engines. Denying the claim comes with a fine and suspension.
